Multi tenency on an application can be categorized as below models

Single Database : Multi code base ( involves having a discriminatory field in every table and using it to identify tenant)

Multi Database : Single code base (Each tenant have their own database, but sharing same code)

Multi Database : Multi code base (Each tenant can have their own data as well as customization)
